Doesn’t my local council have an obligation to ensure residents have access to drinking water?

Councils are responsible for ensuring that residents with municipal water have access to drinking water during a crisis or disruption. For households with private wells, the responsibility lies with the household itself. Regardless of whether a household has a private well or municipal water, everyone has an obligation to maintain good civil preparedness, which also includes water preparedness. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) recommends planning for 3 litres of water per adult per day.
